Psychological Statistics

In this course, students will learn the principles of descriptive and inferential statistics and apply them to psychological research. Topics include measures of central tendency and variability, standardized distributions, hypothesis testing and t-tests, analysis of variance, correlation and regression.
Course Learning Outcomes
At the completion of this course, the student will be able to:

Differentiate between descriptive, inferential and correlational statistics.

Interpret data presented as tables, graphs and statistics.

Calculate, interpret and report statistical measures of central tendency and variability.

Determine the correct statistical methods to apply to various research questions.

Calculate and interpret the meaning of basic tests of statistical significance.

Calculate and interpret the meaning of basic measures of effect size.

Describe and interpret statistical analyses reported in empirical research and other media/publications.
